Worlds 2026 runs October 15 to November 14 in the United States, with 19 teams, a four team Play-In and a Grand Final at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. It is the biggest League of Legends event of the year, and it is also the last stretch of the season before competitive play freezes the meta for three weeks.

Three stages, three cities, five weeks. Bookmark this list, because the format changes depending on which week you tune in:
- Play-In Stage: October 15 to 18, Riot Games Arena, Los Angeles
- Swiss Stage: October 23 to 26, then October 28 to 31, Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen, Texas
- Quarterfinals: November 3 to 6, Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen, Texas
- Semifinals: November 7 to 8, Credit Union of Texas Event Center, Allen, Texas
- Grand Final: November 14, Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York
The event opens in Los Angeles, moves to Allen (about 30 minutes north of Dallas) for everything until the last weekend, then finishes in Brooklyn. 🧩 The Format, Stage by Stage
Worlds 2026 keeps the structure of the last two editions and changes two things: the Play-In bracket and the regional seeding.
Play-In: four teams, one ticket (October 15 to 18)
Four teams enter a double elimination bracket, and every series is a best of five. Only the winner advances to the Swiss Stage. Two losses and your tournament ends after four days.
Riot has not published the Play-In line-up yet. Seeding for every qualified team is set from regional performance, including MSI 2026 results, so the four teams landing here are confirmed only once the remaining slots are decided.
Swiss Stage: five rounds, sixteen teams (October 23 to 31)
Fifteen pre qualified teams plus the Play-In winner form the 16 team Swiss Stage. Teams are drawn fresh after every round, and rematches are not allowed.
- Win three matches and you advance to the Knockout Stage
- Lose three matches and you are eliminated
- Qualification and elimination matches are best of three, every other match is best of one
That Bo1 detail decides tournaments. One bad draft on a Tuesday can put a favourite on the edge of elimination before the weekend starts.
Knockout Stage: single elimination (November 3 to 8)
Eight survivors enter a single elimination bracket. Quarterfinals run November 3 to 6, semifinals November 7 to 8, and every series is a best of five. The last two teams then wait a full week before the Grand Final on November 14, the longest break anyone sits through at Worlds.
👥 The Field So Far: 14 Teams Locked, 5 Left
Nineteen teams qualify across six regions. Brazil received a second slot this year, and an extra seed went to China as the best performing region behind Korea at MSI 2026, on top of Korea's fourth seed from the MSI champion auto-slot.
The regional split:
- 4 teams: LCK (Korea), LPL (China)
- 3 teams each: LEC (EMEA), LCP (Asia-Pacific), LCS (North America)
- 2 teams: CBLOL (Brazil)
Fourteen spots are filled:
- LCK: Hanwha Life Esports (MSI 2026 champions), Gen.G, T1, Dplus KIA
- LPL: Anyone's Legend, Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports, Invictus Gaming
- LEC: G2 Esports, Movistar KOI, Karmine Corp
- LCP: Team Secret Whales, CTBC Flying Oyster, MVK Esports
G2 took the European crown with a 3-0 sweep over Movistar KOI in the LEC Summer Grand Final, played on September 20 at the Palais Nikaïa in Nice. Karmine Corp locked the third seed from the lower bracket.
Worlds 2026 Grand Final venue: Barclays Center, Brooklyn.
Five spots stay open, and both leagues finish in October:
- 3 LCS seeds are decided by October 4, when the LCS Summer Playoffs end
- 2 CBLOL seeds are decided by October 10
Until those brackets close, seeding for the whole tournament stays provisional. Riot announces the final seeding after qualification ends.
⚔️ Patch 26.19 Is the Last Balance Patch Before Worlds
Patch 26.19 landed on September 23 and it is the last balance update before Worlds 2026. Once the Swiss Stage starts, the meta is frozen: no emergency buffs, no quiet nerfs, no new champion drops mid event.
Teams get five weeks to build a draft identity on a patch everyone can study in full. You get something simpler: a stable ladder. It touched Teleport, trimmed a few jungle picks and delayed Team Voice for ranked queues, and after that nothing moves until the trophy is lifted.

Worlds is the biggest free scouting report in the game. Pros spend October testing drafts that solo queue has not caught up with, and those picks trickle down in the weeks after.

- Track what wins in the Swiss Stage, not in the Play-In. Sixteen team samples beat four team samples.
