VALORANT Champions Shanghai: the eight-team playoff bracket
The VALORANT Champions Shanghai group stage is over and the playoff bracket is fixed. Eight teams are through, VCT Americas supplies four of them, and two upper-bracket quarterfinals land on 7 October.
The VALORANT Champions Shanghai group stage closed on 4 October and the playoff bracket is locked. Eight teams are through, eight are out, and the first two upper-bracket quarterfinals are on the clock for 7 October.
This is not a group-stage recap. It is what the bracket says: the host region sends nobody to the playoffs, VCT Americas sends four teams, and the last Champions of the franchise era opens with a double-elimination bracket that punishes a slow start π―
π The eight teams that made it
Every group sent two teams through: the group winner into the upper bracket, the runner-up right behind.
- Group A winner: 100 Thieves. The VCT Americas side topped its group and takes the first seed.
- Group B winner: Team Vitality. The EMEA representative closed the group stage as a number one seed.
- Group C winner: Paper Rex. The Pacific squad finished top of its group.
- Group D winner: NRG. The defending champions won their group and start the playoffs on the upper side of the bracket.
- Group A runner-up: T1. Second seed, with a 7 October date.
- Group B runner-up: LOUD. The Brazilian side follows Team Vitality out of Group B.
- Group C runner-up: G2 Esports. The European organisation, competing in VCT Americas, goes through as a second seed.
- Group D runner-up: Nongshim RedForce. The Masters Santiago winners take the last playoff ticket.
π The upper-bracket quarterfinals
Four matches across two days, and four teams slide straight into the lower bracket.
- 7 October: NRG vs T1
- 7 October: Paper Rex vs LOUD
- 8 October: 100 Thieves vs G2 Esports
- 8 October: Team Vitality vs Nongshim RedForce
That is the entire opening round of the upper bracket. Win and you stay on the safe side. Lose and you drop into the lower bracket, where the next defeat ends the run.

Valorant Champions Shanghai playoffs: VCT Americas 4, Pacific 3, EMEA 1, China 0.
π Where the eight playoff teams come from
The regional split is the headline number of this bracket.
- VCT Americas: 4 teams (100 Thieves, NRG, LOUD, G2 Esports)
- VCT Pacific: 3 teams (Paper Rex, T1, Nongshim RedForce)
- VCT EMEA: 1 team (Team Vitality)
- VCT China: 0 teams
Four Americas teams and three Pacific teams is the story of a group stage played in separate groups against separate opponents. No team from the host region reached the playoffs at the first Champions held in China. Those are simple counts of the field, not a verdict on any single regional duel: the groups never lined up as one region against another.
Who is out
Eight teams left VALORANT Champions Shanghai before the playoffs started.
- Out in the 3 and 4 October group deciders: FUT Esports, Global Esports, Team Liquid, Karmine Corp
- Out in the 1 and 2 October elimination matches: JD Gaming, EDward Gaming, Xi Lai Gaming, TYLOO
All four Chinese squads are on that list. JD Gaming, EDward Gaming, Xi Lai Gaming and TYLOO went out first, in the elimination round of the opening two days.
πΈ What the bracket pays
The prize pool for VALORANT Champions Shanghai sits at $2,250,000, and the winner takes $1,000,000.
- 1st: $1,000,000
- 2nd: $400,000
- 3rd: $250,000
- 4th: $130,000
- 5th-6th: $85,000
- 7th-8th: $50,000
- 9th-12th: $30,000
- 13th-16th: $20,000
Only the eight playoff teams can still climb that list. The top of the table gets settled between 7 and 18 October.
ποΈ Where it is played
The group stage and the opening of the playoffs run at the Jing'an Sports Center. The final weekend moves to the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Pudong, and the grand final lands on 18 October π₯
The playoff bracket is a full double elimination. Every match is best-of-three, except the lower bracket final and the grand final, which are best-of-five. Eight teams, two lives each, and a grand final date already on the calendar.
NRG and the back-to-back
NRG arrive as the defending champions and are chasing the first back-to-back in the history of the tournament. They qualified through Championship Points, then won Group D, so the title defence starts on the upper side of the bracket.
The Masters London champions, LEVIATAN, did not make this field. Nongshim RedForce, who won Masters Santiago, did. Two Masters winners, two different routes into a Shanghai bracket.
The bracket in five lines
- Group stage: 24 September to 4 October
- Playoffs: 7 to 18 October, eight teams, double elimination
- Format: best-of-three, except the lower bracket final and grand final, best-of-five
- Venues: Jing'an Sports Center, then the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Pudong
- Grand final: 18 October
If you followed VALORANT Champions Shanghai through the group stage, the group-stage openers explain how this bracket took shape, and the regional read after week one plus the picture after four teams locked their spots carry the story into the playoffs.
Every team in that bracket got here by winning sets under pressure. If that is your kind of grind, the VALORANT ladder on Amber.gg runs on the same rhythm: best-of-three sets, climb or drop, no hiding. New players start with a $5 signup bonus, and you can see every ladder on the play page.
