How the Classic LoL quiz works

Editorial-clean rules so you can focus on the deduction itself. Each guess prints a comparison row across seven champion attributes, and the row is your map for the next guess.

  • Type a champion, get a row

Enter any champion name and a comparison row prints across seven attribute cells: gender, position, species, resource, range, regions, and release year. The row is the answer key for your next guess, so each entry doubles as a lookup.

  • Read the color codes

Green means the attribute matches today's hidden champion exactly. Orange flags partial overlap, the case where a champion plays two positions or hails from two regions and only one lines up. Red rules the attribute out as a path forward.

  • Year arrow narrows the era

The release-year cell adds an arrow up or down depending on whether today's champion was released later or earlier than your guess. Three well-spaced guesses cut the timeline down to a couple of years.

  • One champion per day

The puzzle resets at midnight UTC. Yesterday's solution stays visible for reference, and there is no attempt cap, so you can keep refining your row math until you crack it.

The whole format rewards quizzers who can hold a wide attribute map in their head and prune it row by row.

Editorial tips to ace the classic quiz

Veteran LoL quizzers do not guess hot. They run the comparison panel like a spreadsheet and let the deduction close the puzzle for them.

  1. Open with a champion you know inside out. Aatrox, Lux, or Caitlyn are clean openers because their attributes are well known and unambiguous, so the comparison panel seeds quickly with no surprises that cost you a turn.

  2. Prioritize the attributes that prune fast. Rare species like void, ascended, or yordle slice the pool more aggressively than gender or resource, so a green or red on species is worth more information than three other cells combined.

  3. Treat the year arrow like a binary search. Each new guess should aim near the midpoint of your remaining year window, not at a hunch. After three pivots the release era is usually pinned to a two-year band, often less.

  4. Track partial matches across guesses. If two separate orange regions point to the same overlap, that overlap is locked. Keep a running list of regions, positions, and species you have already ruled in or out before you submit anything new.

  5. Avoid the editorial traps. Akali is mage and assassin, not solo assassin. Ivern reads as support and mage despite his frame. Champions with no resource (Vladimir, Garen, Riven, Katarina, Akali) are rare and a strong filter when that cell finally lights up.

Once you stop guessing champions and start deducing the only champion who could satisfy every cell at once, four-guess runs become routine.
