Valorant Patch 13.01 dropped on July 14 and it's more than a standard balance update. Riot is buffing Iso and Yoru, tightening the Outlaw, and launching one of the most aggressive anti-boosting crackdowns in the game's history. If you care about ranked integrity, this one matters.
Iso's Double Tap receives a quality-of-life improvement that makes the ability more fluid in combat. After triggering and deactivating Double Tap, your weapon now re-equips instantly instead of going through a slow animation.
Weapon re-equip speed after deactivating Double Tap is now instant.
Comienza a concentrarte AL INSTANTE.
This closes a gap that was hurting Iso's effectiveness in tight duels. You activate the shield, go for the kill, and immediately get your gun back, no fumbling.
Yoru gets two meaningful changes that make his deceptive playstyle even harder to read. Gatecrash now lingers 5 seconds longer, giving you more time to build plays around your teleport. Fakeout clones now copy your last equipped weapon, not your strongest one, making the decoy read much more convincing.
Active Beacon Duration increased from 15 to 20 seconds.
Clones now hold Yoru's last equipped weapon instead of defaulting to his strongest.
The Fakeout change is subtle but impactful. Enemies scanning a Yoru clone used to immediately spot the mismatch if you were holding a pistol but the clone had a rifle. That tell is gone now. 🎭

The Outlaw gets hit with recovery and spread adjustments after the first shot, making it significantly harder to chain accurate shots at range. The numbers are real: recovery goes from 0.1 to 0.15, spread jumps from 0 to 2.25, and recoil goes from 0 to 4.0 after that first bullet.
The rifle was simply too forgiving for its price point. Riot wants to keep the Outlaw lethal in the right hands without making it a no-brainer purchase every round.
The bigger story in Patch 13.01 isn't the balance changes: it's Riot's declaration of war on ranked manipulation. Three behaviors are now under active enforcement.
Boosting: having a smurf play on your account or with you to inflate your rank. Win-trading: coordinating with opponents to control match outcomes. Stream sniping: using live broadcasts to gain unfair information in real matches.
Riot confirmed they've rolled out detection technology already proven in League of Legends. The system is built to separate normal play from coordinated abusive play, and the penalties are serious.
Confirmed violations can result in:
Mid-Stage 2 is a deliberate timing. The competitive calendar is packed right now, with VCT Americas Stage 2 2026 in full swing and real stakes on the line. Riot isn't waiting for the off-season.
Ranked in Valorant has always had a boosting problem. Riot's intervention confirms what competitive players already know: rank is only meaningful if it reflects real skill. That premise is what drives the entire ecosystem, from pro aspirations to casual ladder climbing.
Platforms like Amber.gg's Valorant ladders are built on that same foundation. Real competition requires real opponents. When Riot validates ranked integrity at the game level, every match in a fair environment carries more weight.
Iso and Yoru joining the viable duelist pool expands the number of viable ranked compositions heading into Stage 2. The last patch already shifted the Valorant competitive meta significantly, and 13.01 builds on that momentum.
For your ranked games: Iso is worth a second look at Plat+ if you weren't picking him before. Yoru rewards players who build plays around information denial, and a 20-second Gatecrash window opens up entire rounds of fake pressure. The Outlaw nerf probably won't retire the weapon, but two-tapping across the map is getting harder to execute consistently.
If you want to test your Valorant rank in a fair, stakes-driven environment, compete on Amber.gg where every opponent you face earned their spot.
