LoL Patch 26.16 Notes: ADC Buffs, Support Roam Nerf, Meta Shift
Patch 26.16 is a bot lane reset. Supports get leashed through level 5, ADCs get extra MR to fight back against mage bot, and the mid lane opens up. Here's the full breakdown.
LoL Patch 26.16 landed on August 13 and it's one of the bigger bot lane shakeups in months. ADCs get system-wide magic resistance, supports get leashed harder than ever, and several mid picks are back on the table.
Here's everything that changed and what it means before your next queue.
π¨ The Biggest Change: Support Roam Nerf
If you've been running into Camille support or watching your support disappear to make solo plays at level 3, those days are numbered. Riot raised the roaming penalty from 25% to 33% gold and XP β and extended it from level 3 all the way to level 5.
This is the largest leash change in years. The support quest now actively punishes early roams that have dominated pro play and solo queue abuse. Level-3 ganks from support were effectively free since the penalty window closed too early β now it stays active through the critical early levels where roams do the most damage.
What changes for you: If you're playing ADC, your support is more incentivized to stay. If you're playing support, lane priority matters more β roaming at 3 is now a real sacrifice, not a free swing.
πΉ ADCs Get Magic Resistance
All marksmen received a system-level MR adjustment: base MR goes from 30 + 1.3/level to 33 + 1.1/level. Early game is sturdier (33 vs 30 at level 1), and the scaling evens out at higher levels.
This directly counters the mage bot lane meta β Lux, Orianna, Syndra bot have been oppressive because their magic damage hit ADCs too hard in trades. Now ADCs have a small but meaningful buffer in early lane fights.

π΄ Champion Nerfs
Bel'Veth
The void empress loses health growth and late-game attack speed scaling. Her late-game raid boss status gets trimmed while her early game identity stays intact. She's still a strong jungler, but the power ceiling comes down.
Use the LoL meta page to track how her win rate shifts after these nerfs land.
Camille
Camille's passive shield gets reworked: flat 20% shield down to 10-25% scaling. Riot simultaneously lowered her cooldowns to compensate β the goal is to keep her viable in top lane while discouraging the support Camille roam that's been terrorizing solo queue.
Shield: 20% max HP (flat) β 10-25% max HP (scaling by level)
Poppy
Poppy shifts from early AD bruiser toward tank scaling β AD goes down, durability goes up. Early all-in potential drops, but she's more relevant as a late-game tank. Affects jungle Poppy more than support Poppy.
π’ Champion Buffs
Azir
Q (Conquering Sands) gets +15-20 damage across all ranks. Azir's laning has been weak enough that skilled players were avoiding him despite his macro strength. This gives him better poke and trading potential in the early laning phase.

Riot Games / League of Legends
Base damage buffed by 15-20 across all ranks
Gwen
Passive healing restored from 50% to 67% post-mitigation. Gwen's survivability in extended fights returns to a healthier level after previous over-nerfs took too much from her sustain identity.
Kennen
Ultimate gets resistance, damage, and AP ratio buffs. Kennen took collateral damage from the Hextech Rocketbelt nerfs that hit him harder than other users. These buffs target his teamfight impact specifically β he's worth revisiting in mid and support.
Resistances, damage, and AP ratios all increased to compensate for Hextech Rocketbelt nerfs
Nasus
Q stacking adjusted to balance jungle and top lane viability. Stack farming stays core to his identity, but the tuning smooths out the edge cases where top and jungle felt too far apart in value.
π Item Changes
Nerfs:
- Sundered Sky β healing reduced. Was outperforming lifesteal items in sustained combat.
Buffs:
- Black Cleaver β better for armor shredding compositions
- Eclipse β lethality assassin item gets a bump
- Sterak's Gage β tank-fighter item strengthened
- Berserker's Greaves β attack speed boots get a slight boost
Magic penetration:
- Spellslinger's Shoes β pen increased from 18+8% to 20+8%, making the mage-oriented boots more competitive
Jungle pets:
- Increased AP and defensive scaling for mage and tank junglers. Amumu, Fiddlesticks, and similar picks benefit from this β the jungle pool for non-traditional picks just got wider.
π― What This Means for Ladder Players
The roaming support nerf is the biggest change for duo queue. Support picks that relied on early exits β Camille, Bel'Veth support, roam-heavy mages β take a real hit. If you're ADC, this patch rewards staying in lane and winning 2v2 rather than hoping your support shows up.
Mid lane opens up with Azir and Kennen buffs. Both are skill-expression picks that were unfairly held back by item nerfs β if you've been grinding either of them, now's the time to pull the trigger.
