VCT EMEA Stage 2 Playoffs: Vlad Ban, Day 1 & Full Bracket

Amber.gg 7 min read

The VCT EMEA Stage 2 playoff bracket is locked in. Enterprise Esports, FUT Esports, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Fire Flux Esports secured the final four Play-Ins spots on August 16, joining four group stage qualifiers for the full 8-team bracket in Barcelona.

The VCT EMEA Stage 2 playoff bracket is set. Eight teams, one spot at Champions Shanghai, and the race starts now.

As of August 16, all eight playoff slots are filled following the completion of the Play-Ins bracket. Four teams qualified directly from the group stage, while four more fought through the double-elimination gauntlet to earn their Barcelona spot.

🔴 Playoffs Are Live

EMEA Stage 2 playoffs kicked off August 20, and drama arrived before a single map was played 🚨.

Vlad Suspended: FUT Enter Their Liquid Match Without a Head Coach

FUT Esports head coach Vlad has been hit with a suspension and will not be present on the sideline for today's opening playoff match against Team Liquid. The ban was confirmed on August 20 with no advance notice, leaving FUT zero time to arrange an alternative coaching setup.

The impact is real. In a live playoff BO3, the head coach manages the between-map layer: calling timeouts, reading opponent adjustments, directing composition bans mid-series. Without Vlad, FUT's players carry that decision-making alone under maximum pressure. For a roster that already went through a complete mid-season rebuild, it's yet another test of how much this team has genuinely cohered 👀.

Champions Shanghai Spot on the Line 🏆

The EMEA Stage 2 bracket winner earns a spot at VCT Champions Shanghai 2026, the world championship. Every BO3 from here is a world qualifier. Teams that hold up under that pressure, and those that don't, will be separated fast.

Updated Pick to Win

Karmine Corp remains the pick. The Vlad ban doesn't affect them directly, but it does shift the bracket narrative: Liquid enter their opener with a structural edge before a single round is played.

Still backing KC for Champions Shanghai, with Team Liquid as the team to watch if they convert the Day 1 advantage into a clean upper-bracket run.

🏆 How Every Team Qualified

Group stage direct qualifiers:

  • Karmine Corp — Group Alpha winners
  • Team Vitality — Group stage qualifier
  • Team Liquid — Group stage qualifier
  • BBL Esports — Group stage qualifier

Play-Ins qualifiers:

  • Enterprise Esports — Upset FNATIC on Day 2
  • FUT Esports — Qualified despite a core roster overhaul mid-season
  • Eintracht Frankfurt — Secured one of the final two spots on August 16
  • Fire Flux Esports — Secured the last Play-Ins spot on August 16

Four group stage locks, four teams that clawed their way through Play-Ins. The bracket is stacked, and the storylines write themselves.

🔍 Team-by-Team Breakdown

Karmine Corp: The Favorite Nobody Saw Coming

After a 0-5 Stage 1 nightmare, KC came back completely rebuilt. They swept through Stage 2 group play, dominated Play-Ins week, and enter the playoff bracket as the team the rest of EMEA is genuinely scared of. If the new style holds up under playoff pressure, they're the ones to beat for the Champions spot.

Team Vitality: Consistent, But Yet to Peak

Vitality qualified comfortably but haven't shown that decisive gear everyone expects them to find in playoffs. Their ceiling is high, this is a team with Champions pedigree. The question is whether they can turn consistent form into a playoff run.

Team Liquid: The Comeback Story

Liquid rallied from losing positions multiple times during the group stage and looked sharper heading into the playoff cut. They're capable of upsets. Their mental resilience might matter more than their seeding.

BBL Esports: The Scrappy Overperformer

BBL upset Vitality during the group stage and followed it up with a direct playoff berth. They're not the most polished roster in the bracket, but they compete hard and have shown they can punch up.

Enterprise Esports: The Biggest Upset Makers

Challengers squad. Took down FNATIC in one of the Play-Ins' most memorable series. As covered in our Play-Ins Day 1-2 recap, Enterprise earned every inch of this playoff spot. They're the dark horse with the biggest upside.

FUT Esports: The Story Nobody Expected

FUT qualified for the playoffs despite releasing their entire Turkish core mid-season, including AtaKaptan's retirement. Running a rebuilt roster through the Play-Ins and coming out the other side is genuinely impressive. Whether this lineup can compete in a playoff format is the big unknown 👀.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Challengers Proving a Point

Frankfurt entered as Play-Ins underdogs and pushed through to earn a playoff spot. They lost to GIANTX on Day 1 before bouncing back through the lower bracket. Playoff experience will be limited, but that's been true of every Challengers breakout team before they surprised someone.

Fire Flux Esports: The REBORN Gamble

Fire Flux signed the REBORN roster specifically for this run and went 2-0 in their first series against PCIFIC Esports. They held their own all the way to the final Play-Ins round and punched their ticket on August 16. They're the wildcard. Dark horse energy at maximum 🔥.

⚔️ Round 1 Results: Enterprise and FUT Draw First Blood

Round 1 is done, and both of this article's storylines paid off.

Enterprise Esports beat Team Vitality 2-1 in the upper bracket. Vitality opened strong on Summit (13-6), but Enterprise clawed back to take Abyss 13-11 and closed it out on Lotus 13-4. The Challengers squad, this piece's own dark-horse pick, just knocked out a Champions-pedigree team.

FUT Esports beat Team Liquid 2-0, playing the entire series without suspended head coach Vlad. They trailed 0-9 on Haven before mounting a 9-3 comeback to steal it 13-11, then closed out Summit 13-11 for the sweep. No coach on the bench, and FUT didn't need one.

Round 2 is set for August 21: Enterprise Esports vs Karmine Corp, and FUT Esports vs BBL Esports in an all-Turkish derby.

🎮 Patch 13.02 and What to Expect Meta-Wise

The playoffs run on Valorant Patch 13.02, which brought Phoenix's ultimate cost up to 7 points and added three new Retakes maps. In terms of the competitive meta, the changes are minor enough that the agent compositions you have seen all Stage 2 are what teams will bring to Barcelona.

Initiators remain dominant. Sentinels are viable on tighter maps. Duelist picks pivot around entry style and map. Karmine Corp's flexible compositions have been the most meta-forward in EMEA, and how opponents respond will shape the bracket's early rounds.

🏆 Our Pick: Karmine Corp

Karmine Corp. The form, the depth, and the emotional fuel of a team determined to erase Stage 1 from memory. They've already shown they can play around every opponent's read, and their ceiling in a best-of-three format is higher than anyone else in this bracket.

Dark horse that could ruin it: Enterprise Esports. They have proven once that they can beat a franchise team when it matters. That's not a fluke, it's a template. After beating Vitality 2-1 in Round 1, Enterprise, this piece's own dark-horse pick, is now just one win away from a head-to-head with Karmine Corp.
