TFT patch 18.4 preview: what changes on October 7
The preview for TFT patch 18.4: two economy augments return, four new Wisps arrive, and Ashe and Rapidfire take the hit. The patch goes live October 7.
TFT patch 18.4 lands on October 7, and the test server already shows what is coming for your ranked games. Two economy augments return, Ashe loses all of her starting mana, and Rapidfire takes the biggest cut of the patch.
⚡ How to read this preview
Riot has not published the official TFT patch 18.4 notes yet. Every value in this preview comes from the test server build from September 30, so any single number can still move before the patch goes live. The official notes are expected around 18:00 UTC on October 6, the day before the patch deploys: read the shifts below as direction, not as final math.
Here is the short version: two econ augments are back, four new Wisps land, and the nerf list runs through Ashe, Rapidfire and a handful of damage traits. Everything below is direction from the test build, not a promised final value.
🔁 Two economy augments are back
Retours :
- Double Trouble (Gold): with exactly two copies of a champion you gain +25% AD/AP and +25 Armor/MR. New for 18.4: hitting 3-star hands you a 2-star copy.
- Calculated Loss: after every loss you gain 2 gold and one free shop reroll, with no cap.
Double Trouble rewards committing to a champion pair early, and the new 3-star payout turns a long roll into a real spike. Calculated Loss is the greedier pick: it pays out on every single loss, so it fits a player who is already planning a loss streak.
🌊 Four new Wisps
Nouveaux :
- Drizzle: after 8 seconds of combat, your team gains 10 mana (upgraded: 15).
- Grove Armor: your highest-HP champion gains 15 Armor and 15 MR (upgraded: 25/25).
- Returning Friend: a temporary Training Dummy carrying two Giant's Belts (upgraded: three).
- True Friendship: you gain 2 gold and a Magnetic Remover, and your opponent gains them too (upgraded: you 3, them 2).
Drizzle and Grove Armor are clean mid-fight stabilisers. True Friendship is the odd one: both sides get paid, so it reads as a tempo-neutral greed pick rather than a combat Wisp. If they ship as previewed, Drizzle and Grove Armor look like the easy defaults for most boards.

🗡️ The champion nerfs
All of the champion changes push the same way: slower casts and less raw damage.
Nerfs :
- Ashe: starting mana 20 -> 0.
- Diana: mana 30 -> 40.
- Maokai: mana 90 -> 100.
- Master Yi: attack damage 62 -> 60.
Ashe is the loud one. Starting at 0 mana instead of 20 means she cannot open a fight with an early ability any more; she has to build from nothing. For an Ashe carry, that is the difference between casting in the opening seconds of a fight and waiting for your first auto attacks to bank mana. Diana and Maokai both need more mana per cast, and Master Yi loses a sliver of attack damage.
🎯 Traits: Rapidfire takes the biggest cut
Rapidfire loses attack speed on both of its top tiers, and it is not alone.
Nerfs :
- Rapidfire: attack speed per attack +9% -> +8% (tier 3), +15% -> +12% (tier 4).
- Executioner: bleed 30% -> 25% (tier 2), 40% -> 35% (tier 3).
- Fae: healing 5% -> 4.5% (tier 1).
- Hunter: 65% -> 60% AD (tier 4).
- Inferno: burn 3.5% -> 3% (tier 3), 4.5% -> 4% (tier 4).
- Juggernaut: damage reduction 45% -> 42%.
- Solar: tier-3 bonus 15 -> 12 Armor/MR.
The patch is not one-way, though. Several traits come out stronger:
Buffs :
- Blossom: bonus 45% -> 50% AD/AP (tier 3), 50% -> 55% (tier 4).
- Lunar: attack speed 10 -> 12%, 14 -> 16%, 18 -> 20%.
- Riftbeast: growth 5% -> 6% AD/AP/attack speed.
- Invoker: mana regen 2 -> 3, 3 -> 4, 5 -> 6.
- Eclipse: first kill 10s -> 8s.
- Solar: capstone now needs 8 -> 7 unique 3-stars.
Blossom and Lunar both push damage and attack-speed scaling, while Invoker gives caster comps a steadier mana flow. If you were leaning on Rapidfire carries, the tier-4 cut from +15% to +12% is the number to watch 📉.

🔮 Major Polymorph is back
Riot disabled Major Polymorph in 18.3c (September 28) after a bug that handed out 2-star 5-costs far too early. Riot's own 18.3 notes say it returns in 18.4 with fixes, which makes it the most certain piece of the patch.
Cosmetics and the Nesting Dolls question
Retours :
- 42 cosmetics, arenas and Little Legends are re-enabled in 18.4, per Riot's 18.3 notes.
Nesting Dolls, disabled in 18.3b, is absent from the 18.4 test data. Missing data is not a delete order: activation is a server-side switch, so treat its status as open until Riot confirms.
How to prep for October 7
Do not rebuild your whole roster around a single test-server number before the official notes land. The safe play this week is to keep your econ options open, since Double Trouble and Calculated Loss both reward flexible early decisions.
If you want the full picture of where the set stood before this patch, start with our TFT Patch 18.3 breakdown. The same preview habit applies across games: our LoL Patch 26.20 preview covers the last League patch before Worlds, and the LoL Patch 26.19 notes show how Riot handled the pre-Worlds buffs.
Set a reminder for October 7, then come back and compare the official notes against this preview. Keep this TFT patch 18.4 preview bookmarked: the values can still move, and the notes are where the final numbers land. 🎮
