Sentinels just swept ENVY 2-0 in the Lower Bracket Final of the EWC 2026 Valorant Americas Qualifier, and they look ready for Paris. Coming back from an upper bracket loss to Evil Geniuses, the team dropped zero maps in two lower-bracket wins to lock in a spot in the Phase 1 Grand Final.
The Americas qualifier runs May 12-31, with the top three teams booking flights to the main event. Three spots. Six teams left. The race is on 🔥
The Esports World Cup is the largest multi-game esports event in the world. In 2026, VALORANT returns with the main event set for Paris, France, July 2-12, and a $2,000,000 prize pool on the line.
The Americas region earns three qualifying spots, so this qualifier is essentially a last chance for several VCT teams to make the main stage. Team Heretics joins as a direct invite, defending EWC 2025 champions, which puts even more pressure on the Americas squads fighting for the remaining slots.
Phase 1 took the bottom four from VCT Americas Stage 1 Playoffs 2026 and ran them through a double-elimination bracket:
Top two advance to Phase 2, where they join six more VCT Americas teams (5th through 8th place). Both Evil Geniuses and Sentinels made the cut. Cloud9 and ENVY are heading home.

Two maps. Zero doubts. Sentinels came into the Lower Final with a clear game plan and executed it perfectly.
On Breeze (SEN 13-5), cortezia was the standout with a 1.81 rating, putting ENVY in permanent reaction mode. The map was essentially over after the first half. On Lotus (SEN 13-7), Sentinels stayed disciplined and closed it out without drama.
Agent-wise, SEN ran Viper, Harbor, Iso, Sova, and Neon — a setup that controlled space and denied info. ENVY brought Jett, Omen, Viper, Sova, and Neon, but couldn't generate enough aggression to pressure the reads of johnqt and co. Demon1's Neon posted a 0.56 rating on Breeze, a composition mismatch that hurt ENVY all series.
Worth noting: if you haven't caught up on the agent changes, Valorant Patch 12.09 brought Neon nerfs that shifted how teams approach the duelist role this patch.
Sentinels face EG in the Phase 1 Grand Final, a rematch from the upper bracket where EG knocked them out 2-1. The stakes are seeding: both teams advance to Phase 2, but the winner heads in as the top seed.
EG looked clean through Phase 1, dropping only one map total. Sentinels had to grind through the lower bracket but showed real cohesion under pressure. This should be a competitive best-of-three with big momentum implications going into Phase 2.
Phase 2 (May 27-31) expands to eight teams: Evil Geniuses, Sentinels, plus KRÜ Esports, MIBR, FURIA, LOUD, and three direct invitees from VCT Americas' top finishers. The format runs Bo3 throughout with Bo5 finals.
Three Americas teams will qualify for the main event. After Sentinels' run through Phase 1, they've put themselves in position to be one of them. The VCT Masters London 2026 Qualifiers already showed which teams are trending up in the Americas meta — Phase 2 will be the proof.
