Most controllers need line-of-sight to place smokes. Omen doesn't. Dark Cover lets you smoke any location on the map from behind cover, which sets him apart from Brimstone or Harbor in solo queue.

Shrouded Step is a short-range teleport with a visible cast time. Use it to reach off-angle positions before the round develops, not to escape after a duel goes wrong.

You can walk toward one direction, cast Shrouded Step to move somewhere else, and enemies will push the wrong spot expecting you to be where the sound came from.
